Explanation Go-NoGo Task

The test subject hears two kind of auditory stimuli, low and high pitched beeps.

  • Go situation when the LOW tone is presented: test subject presses a predefined key
  • NoGo situation when the HIGH tone is presented: NO press

In this experiment we are going to examine the N2 component in the ERP

Therefor, we manipulate the change of a Go trial


Two conditions are presented

  • Condition 1 = 80% Go trials, 20% NoGo trials
  • Condition 2 = 20% Go trials, 80% NoGo trials

TASK SETUP

First 150 trials of the Condition 1 and then 150 trials with Condition 2. Every 50 trials there is a short break for the test subject

The test subject has 1.5 seconds to respond (or not). The trial is then completed for 1.5 seconds.fully finished

  • First 150 trials of the Condition 1
  • Then 150 trials of the Condition 21

  • Between trials a variable interval (ITI) between 0.5 and 1 second. This to not make it to rhythmic and predictable
  • So, every trial lasts for 2 - 2.5 seconds

Markers

The markers are coded as followed:

  • Marker 1: Conditie 1 and NoGo trial
  • Marker 2: Conditie 1 and Go trial
  • Marker 3: Conditie 1 and keypress
  • Marker 4: Conditie 2 and NoGo trial
  • Marker 5: Conditie 2 and Go trial
  • Marker 6: Conditie 2 and keypress
